The New Abort73 is Here (Sort of)

This is not how web developer's dream of initiating a site launch, but the time has come (and is even long overdue) to switch over to the new Abort73.com. This is not a "full" launch; there is still much to be added in the days, weeks and months to come, but in light of our progress, and in light of the calendar, we made the flip. This week marks the 36th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that struck down all state prohibitions against abortion. This is the one week out of every year where abortion receives the most attention on the national level. It's too important a moment to let slip.

For the time being, the old site still exists in the background. Not all of the pages have transitioned over yet. Those that haven't will still be served from the old site. Our new web store will eventually exist as a separate, companion entity to the main Abort73 site, but could still be a few months or more away. The old web store will remain in place until then. As way of further disclaimer, here are some known issues:

• The 5-minute version of the "overview" video on the homepage has not been completed yet.
• Most of the pages in the "Bringing an End to Abortion" section are still missing their primary content.
• Our Medical Testimony page is the only one to have a fully-developed companion video in place. The rest will be added throughout the year.
• Some of the new pages have yet to go through a rigorous proofing process. There may well be typos and/or broken links.

We've already heard some complaints (and will no doubt hear more) to the tune of "we like the old site better". As a Facebook user who wasn't thrilled with their recent redesign, I can appreciate such sentiment, but I have no doubt that the new site is already superior to the old one and will soon be vastly superior. If you're not convinced, give us a couple months. I think you will be. In the meantime, this is your chance to help make the new site better by first tearing it apart. I give you full reign to start pouring over the pages so as to alert us to any typos or broken links you come across. Our close-up is coming and we want to put our best foot forward.
