Planned Parenthood: Short on Ethics, Not on Cash

On June 1, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (the largest abortion provider in the country) released its 2004-2005 Annual Report.
It's good to know that this noble organization that works so hard to "keep government out of the bedroom" had no qualms in taking $273 million in government (tax-payer) money to fund its own agenda for the bedroom (while expressing outrage on their website that crisis pregnancy clinics, which they call "fake 'clinics'", received $60 million in government funding. Of course, the $273 million in government funding is just a fraction of what Planned Parenthood brought in this past year. They received another $216 million in donations, $347 million in clinic revenue (where they did more than a quarter million abortions), $6 million from their Guttmacher Institute, and $40 million from… "Other" (Wouldn't it be nice to have a miscellaneous "other" category which brought in, Oh, forty million dollars a year?).
Planned Parenthood spends $42 million a year to fundraise, $45 million a year on their own brand of sex-education, and $41 million a year to push their political agenda, but here's the good news. For all the money they spend trying to influence American young people, for all their TV and radio ads, if you do a search for "abortion" on Google today, Planned Parenthood, with an annual income of $882 million, shows up at number 14. Abort73.com, with an annual income of $35 thousand, shows up at number 17. For all the potential hazards lurking in cyberspace, what an amazing blessing the internet actually is! In just a few years, it has eliminated the strangle hold that major corporations like Planned Parenthood previously held, leveling the playing field so as to give even under-funded, politically-incorrect voices the opportunity to be heard and considered by millions of people. That's not to say that money doesn't help and not to say I wouldn't mind shrinking Planned Parenthood's $500 million annual donation. It is to say, though, that despite significant and well-funded opposition, there is reason to hope. God is good, and His influence goes much further than 882 million dollars.
