Good News, Bad News (Increased Traffic, Decreased

While increased traffic can be a real headache when you're driving, it's probably the one thing your average web developer covets more than anything. If you're communicating something, selling something, or (in our case) educating students about the hidden injustice of abortion, you want as many people as possible to find your site. I'm very happy to report that during the month of April, Abort73 had 64,464 unique visitors. That's more than double the total of a year ago (there were 28,731 unique visitors in April, 2006) and roughly 12,000 more than we received for March (52,530). Through 3 days of May, the unique visitor total already stands at 9,507 (which, if extended out to the end of the month, would leave us with 98,239 unique visitors for May). We've also seen lots of growth in the amount of Abort73 resources being purchased. Thousands upon thousands of Abort73 shirts and DVDs have gone out the door. Those are very encouraging trends! Not so encouraging is the fact that donations to our work took a big hit last month. March saw more than $8,000 come in, but April brought in less than $3,000 (barely half of our monthly operating budget). That news came especially hard since April included the mailing of our quarterly newsletter, which is our primary fundraising vehicle. If nothing else, I've learned that, whatever my abilities as a web designer, I clearly leave a lot to be desired as a fundraiser. Thankfully, there's much more going on here than mere human effort. I continue to pray that God will be pleased to demonstrate His sovereign power by providing the funds we need (in spite of my many shortcomings as a fundraiser). As always, the best is yet to come!
