QUESTION:Does abortion violate the most basic medical tenet?
Prominent abortionist, Warren Hern, says:
"...the first principle of medical practice is to do no harm." (188)
"...the aim of all medical treatment should be to prevent suffering and death." (38-39)
This textbook by the National Abortion Federation (NAF) trains physicians to perform abortions.
Based on the most recent data, 14.6% of all U.S. abortions are performed medically.
"[Medical abortion] works by blocking the hormone progesterone, which is necessary to sustain pregnancy."
"It can take anywhere from about a day to 3-4 weeks..."
"[Women are] unlikely to see products of conception (during a medical abortion) [because] the embryo will be very small and often obscured by blood clots." (124) Out of sight; out of mind.
IN SHORT: Medical abortion does fatal harm to 98% of the human embryos it treats.
75.9% of U.S. abortions are performed surgically at or before 13 weeks' gestation.
Most North American abortionists dilate the cervix with mechanical dilators...
...before inserting a plastic cannula connected to a vacuum aspirator.
The fetus and placenta are torn apart in the process.
IN SHORT: First-trimester surgical abortion does fatal harm to 99.7% of the human embryos and fetuses it treats.
8.5% of U.S. abortions are performed surgically after 13 weeks' gestation.
"After 16 weeks' gestation, fetal skeletal development is such that the surgeon can manually sense the presence of fetal parts within the closed jaws… If a fetal extremity is brought through the cervix without separation, advance the forceps beyond the extremity to grasp part of the fetal trunk… try to identify and keep track of fetal parts as they are removed." (172)
This is a medical illustration of a 23-week surgical abortion.
IN SHORT: Second and third trimester surgical abortion does fatal harm to 99.6% of the human fetuses it treats.
Except when it fails, abortion always violates the most central tenet of medical ethics: DO NOT HARM.
