Abortion Story: Bray, Ireland
Submitted to Abort73 by a 24-year-old woman on May 29, 2018
Last Friday, May 25th, 2018, most of my people voted to repeal the 8th amendment from our Constitution, and although I did expect that result, I'm still disappointed because they don't know the nefarious consequences it will bring.
In the spring of 2013, when I was 19, I got pregnant by my then-boyfriend. He didn't want to have kids then, so he pushed me to go to the UK and get an abortion which, unfortunately, I got in London. He never cared if I wanted to have my baby or not, but that was my first mistake, the one I regret the most. I didn't tell him about my feelings, and I didn't save my baby.
At first, I didn't care about it, but suddenly, a couple years after the abortion, things changed. I fell into severe depression, and very suddenly and I just stopped talking to my boyfriend, and blocked him from all my social networks, without even telling him why.
I'm still dealing with all the problems I got because of the abortion. I used to think I had gotten over it, but the referendum just made me think of all my mistakes, and of all the pain that many more women will go through, because of "choice.”
