I would love if you could address the topic of ectopic pregnancies in further detail in regard to legality after the overturning of Roe v Wade. A common argument I hear is that state laws will make no provision for ectopic pregnancies (or simply make no mention of them at all, so that doctors will be afraid to give treatment to women in these instances for fear of legal retribution). I find it highly unlikely that either of these instances will commonly occur, however, I have had a very difficult time finding scholarly sources to back this up, especially since many of these laws are not actually in existence yet. I am very aware that treatment for an ectopic pregnancy is not like an abortion in method or intent (and I am sure most doctors in almost any field are aware of this), however, since there are so many pro-choice doctors coming forward claiming this will be the case, regardless of their actual knowledge of the facts, it is very difficult to refute on virtue of my own personal knowledge. After all, people will say, “Who are you to say you know more on this topic than an actual medical doctor?” But really I think this comes down to more of a legal argument at its root anyway, and I have yet to see anyone on the pro-life side make the case against this argument from a legal standpoint.

I have struggled with redeeming myself after an abortion 23 years ago. I try to help pro-life causes and inform friends and family I am intensely pro-life, so I found your site when emailing my local house reps who will be voting on our new state laws this week. I found so much good stuff. I just sent links to some of it, hoping they'll take a look. I was happy to see a page for people like me who still struggle with our terrible decisions, who I'm told make up a lot of the pro-life movement. I am not a victim, but I try to help young women see that they are not helping themselves or anybody with abortion, and could be more detrimental to themselves than they ever would realize. The media is frightening with the way they have glamorized this as a good thing for women. I was broken by this, and that is very difficult to deal with. Abortion is a fundamental human right. When women are pregnant the foetus is not yet a person, it doesn't have emotions or thoughts. It is just cells. Many women who become pregnant can not support themselves economically, maybe even emotionally, let alone support a child which would rely on them for everything. This means they would likely to not be able to provide the child with a good life, something they would almost certainly not find in the foster/adoption system. Allowing a woman to abort her foetus is saving it from a potential unhappy and dangerous life. Also abortions allow women and girls to have a future.

I believe in freedom of choice. The government, federal or state, has no business infringing on matters such as abortion. That should be between the woman and her doctor. The very first article linked says life beginning at conception is "irrefutable", though that's literally not how the scientific method works. You remove a fetus from its host? It dies. It doesn't have a heart for three full weeks, and the brain requires months to form autonomy. Calling it "life" is extremely disingenuous since humans have both. All of the 'cases against abortion' are bad-faith manifestations of an Intro to Philosophy textbook. Racial studies ignore birth rates. Abortion used interchangeably in one article with "murder". Etc. The whole site is a contrarian take on bodily autonomy and reproductive rights, and, indeed one article can be easily construed as pro-infanticide.

Exactly what part of historical English common law are you referring to when you call a fetus a person? The fetus is not an individual human being until such time as it could possibly survive on its own outside the womb. The concept of personhood conveyed to two cells at conception is a religious belief, not a legal argument, and you are not welcome to install your religious beliefs as part of our general laws. You may act on your own beliefs, but your are making specious arguments comparing abortion to murder. It is not murder, and you may not characterize it as that in order to satisfy your own religious sense. You do not recognize freedom of or from religion, but instead think that your arguments are generally accepted. They are not. Do whatever you chose to do for yourself, but leave others alone. Your intrusive belief of absolute certitude is precisely the engine that drove Europe in the middle ages and was the primary reason the Constitution was written as it was.
