I’m 17 years old and a senior in high school. When I first found out I was pregnant, I was scared but soon became excited to be a mom. But the father freaked out. I was with him for about a year. He was my first. I wasn't expecting to hear the things he said to me, like “I hope you and the baby die,” and he wasn’t going to help or be apart of the child's life. I knew I couldn't care for a child on my own. It was impossible. A few weeks went by, and I let him talk me into the abortion. Do I regret it? Yes and no. Mentally, I know it was the right thing, so I could go to school and become something in life— and have a family when I’m ready, but my heart can't let it go. I think about the abortion a lot and see lots of happy moms. If I could go back and listen to myself and not him, I would have kept the baby and been the best mom I could be. If you’re getting an abortion, make sure it is what you want and no one else, or you'll be like me—losing it every day and always upset. I wish I could go back to that day, but I can't and won't ever be able to. I just hope god forgives me and my unborn child does too. Getting an abortion was the worst experience of my life.
